William Francis Ainsworth letters to Frederick Brickdale Doveton, 1875.

Ainsworth writes to Doveton on 16 April 1875 chiding him on writing on both sides of the paper and misaddressing his poetry submission to the New monthly magazine which he edited, and comments that the poem's religious subject is a difficult one to deal with. In his 21 April 1875 letter he thanks Doveton for sending poems and will send proofs next month, and provides lengthy commentary on science vs. religion, "humbug of modern spiritualism," and on critics who expected to be paid who ignore his magazine.
